Community-University Meeting

We had a sit down with 25 Community-University stakeholders who work or volunteer in the area of diabetes care in the Okanagan.  The purpose? To create a diabetes research workplan that would help bring together stakeholders from non-profit organizations, the Interior Health Authority, and The University of British Columbia.

We had a lot of great conversations. We even had a graphic illustrator join us to visually draw our conversations (See graphics below). We brainstormed ideas – regardless how big or small they were. Then some of us championed certain ideas that we dove into in greater detail. We broke up into groups and asked, “what do we already know about these ideas?“, and “what do we need to know?” In the end, we had 4 ideas for collaborative projects that both the community and the university researchers agreed have the potential to impact diabetes care in the Okanagan.
