About

Alissa Smith is a Master’s of Science student and a Research Coordinator in the School of Health and Exercise Sciences. She completed her BA in Psychology at the University of British Columbia Okanagan.

Alissa is responsible for the daily progression of the Diabetes Prevention Research Group and the Small Steps for Big Changes community-based research program.


Research

Alissa’s main research interests surround child and youth health and wellbeing. Her research in the Diabetes Prevention Research Group has explored a mental health application that intended to support youth self-management skills called BoosterBuddy. She is currently helping to investigate experiences with Celiac Disease in youth and young adults.
