Use of Continuous Glucose Monitors in Pre-Diabetes & T2D Exercise Adherence

Findings from a recent pilot study, conducted by Kaitlyn Bailey, Dr. Little, and Dr. Jung, suggest that the use of real-time Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGMs), as a means of self-monitoring exercise, may improve efficacy among participants with pre-diabetes or Type II Diabetes. Read more here.

Can High Intensity Training be Beneficial to Sedentary Populations?

Just published, yesterday, Dr. Jung, Dr. Little, and Dr. Batterham, comment on previous researcher’s doubts about sedentary populations being unable to perform sprint interval training. Simply put, it has to be scientifically proven, by a randomized control trial. This is an informative piece that supports the importance of research, and the belief of the countless benefits of High Intensity Interval Training!

HEPL Lead Researcher – Top Forty Under 40

Dr. Mary Jung is recognized as one of Kelowna’s 2014 ‘Top Forty Under 40’ by the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce, a competition highlighting successful, local young professionals in their accomplishments. A MSFHR Scholar (2014), assistant UBC-O Human Kinetics professor, and director of HEPL, Dr. Jung has also recently partnered with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, investigating the effects of self-regulatory exercise and lifestyle change among pre-diabetic participants. In her academic career, Jung has co-authored over 53 publications and bears almost 500 citations, thus far (Mary Jung).
